Assam beyond the usual trail — Kaziranga's rhino safaris, a river-crossing to Majuli, the world's largest river island and birthplace of Vaishnavite culture, the 600-year-old Ahom monuments of Sivasagar, and a river cruise through Dibru Saikhowa National Park.
Day-wise Itinerary
Day 1: Guwahati Airport / Rly Station -- Kaziranga National Park (220 kms / 5 hrs.)
On arrival at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station & transfer to Kaziranga National Park, the home of "One Horned Rhinoceros", Enroute visit Maha Mrityunjay Temple in Nagaon. On arrival at Kaziranga Check in at your hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Day 2: Kaziranga National Park
Early morning explore any one zone of Kaziranga National Park on back of Elephant. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Wild Buffalo, Elephants and if you are lucky then tiger also. It is also home to pelicans, storks and darters as there are a number of water bodies inside the Park. Return to the resort for breakfast. In the afternoon enjoy jeep safari through the National Park, later visit Kaziranga Orchid Park. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at Kaziranga. [Important note:]{.underline} Elephant rides are all regulated and controlled by the forest Dept. Govt. of Assam. We do not have any control on the booking. Elephant rides & Jeep safari are subject to availability only.
Day 3: Kaziranga -- Jorhat via Majuli
After early breakfast, proceed for Majuli (80 kms / 02 hrs) is the largest fresh water mid-river inhabited deltoid island in the world. Initially be driven upto Nimatighat and then cross mighty Brahmaputra River by local ferry (1hr downstream boat cruise - the time taken depends upon the water level of the river) to reach Majuli. On arrival explore Majuli, the Satra collectively known as Satras - the birth place of Vaishnavite culture in Assam. Later visit Pottery village and Mask making village. The masks of Majuli have uniqueness. These are made of clay, bamboo, cloth etc. Despite the size of the masks these are quite light in weight. Masks are made on all the characters of the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Puranas. Later in the day get transferred to Jorhat. Again you would be crossing the mighty Brahmaputra River by Ferry. After reaching Nimatighat get driven to Jorhat. Arrive & check in to the hotel. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at Jorhat.
Day 4: Jorhat -- Dibrugarh via Sivsagar (306 kms / 7 hrs.)
After breakfast start for Dibrugarh. Enroute stop at Sivasagar which was once the capital of the Ahom, showcasing Ahom monuments and temples which encompass the 600-year-old history of the Ahom Dynasty. Here you will visit Shiva Dol (The tallest Shiva temple in the entire north east), Shiva Sagar (tank) popularly known as Borpukhuri (manmade water Reservoir), Rang Ghar (Asia\'s largest amphitheatre and was the cultural playground of the Ahom Swargadeos or kings) and Talatal Ghar (Palace of the King). Later proceed to Dibrugarh. On arrival check in at your hotel. Overnight stay at Dibrugarh.
Day 5: Excursion Dibru Saikhuwa National Park
Today morning after breakfast proceeds to Tinsukia, to board the cruise for Dibru Saikhuwa National park sightseeing. Dibru Saikhowa\'s main attraction is the White Winged Wood Duck which stays happily in its natural habitat. Enjoy beach gathering, beach Volleyball during the cruise through National Park. Lunch, evening tea will be served on board. Evening drive back to Dibrugarh. Overnight stay at Dibrugarh.
Day 6: Hotel -- Dibrugarh Airport / Railway Station
After breakfast check out from hotel & transfer to Dibrugarh Airport / Railway Station for your onward journey.
